If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet and secluded place to spend your weekend then trek to Shali Peak is perfect for you. It is one of those untouched treks` which every backpacker craves for. Shali Peak is the highest peak in the vicinity of Shimla at an altitude of 9,423 feet, perfect location to get a 360` view. The peak is surrounded by shimla , Mashobra, Kufri,Fagu and Narkanda. The top has a temple dedicated to goddess Kali. The trail to the temple was constructed in 1936 by the Raja Of Faridkot.The trek starts from a beautiful village, Khatnol which is 35 kms away from Shimla. I would even suggest you to explore the village to know more about the history of the temple, culture and rituals followed by the locals. The trek is short and easy and can be completed in one day. It`s a 3hr climb with leisurly pace. Do remember to bring food and plenty of water along with you. The trek offers a lovely walk through the forest, the trail is surrounded by dense pine forest. There are many picturesque spots along the way. This trek will prove to be a retreat and will definately calm your nerves. Even though the trek can be completed in one day, We would suggest you to spend the night at dharamshala at the top or you can camp out. So if you wish to explore, soak into nature, walk on trails nobody has walked since long, experience the best nature, count stars, spot constellations, to make your soul happy and to have the time of your life then pack your backpack and board a bus to Shimla.
